Liddell Drive-Peachtree Creek Pumping Station

Client: City of Atlanta

Location: Atlanta GA

EDT and its joint-venture partners also provided construction administration services. Engineering Design Technologies, Inc. (EDT) and its two joint-venture partners advanced the design of the partially buried 10 million gallon storage facility and associated diversion structures and pumping stations while also providing construction administration services for the Liddell Drive-Peachtree Creek Pumping Station. Following completion of the final design, the city bid and awarded the project at a of cost approximately $40 million, which realized savings in excess of $60 million from the original concept of 2 caverns.

Substantial completion was achieved by the consent decree deadline. This project included:

• A 67 MGD pump station, with a flow matching variable speed pumping system

• A diversion pipeline to transport flows to prestressed storage tankage

• A 10 MG covered, prestressed, concrete equalization tank with self-cleaning jet mixing system, flushing rings and water cannons

• Approximately 3,300 linear feet of gravity sewers and force mains ranging from 18” – 48” diameter pipe and approximately 570 linear feet of 18” – 42” storm sewers

• A jet mix pumping station with 30 MGD return pumping capacity

• Odor Control system for the pump station and equalization tank, utilizing activated carbon for adsorption of odors.

• Instrumentation and control system with integration into the City’s Foxboro IA SCADA monitoring system at RM Clayton
