Ross Bridge Parkway Streetscape Improvements

Client: City of Hoover

Location: Hoover AL

Over the last decade, the City of Hoover has been working to make their communities more walkable. Ross Bridge Parkway was identified as a prime site for improvement due to the lack of connectivity between the existing communities, and the lack of an accessible route along Ross Bridge Parkway to the the Deer Valley Elementary School. Engineering Design Technologies, Inc. (EDT) is currently working with the City of Hoover and the Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) to provide CEI for the construction of approximately one mile of new sidewalks along the west side of Ross Bridge Parkway between Deer Trail Road and Deer Valley Elementary School. The project includes the addition of sidewalk; improved striping and signing; installation of a large storm sewer pipe; and retaining walls. The retaining walls were designed to include a stamped/stained natural stone look that will tie the project in with the adjoining community. The fininshed product will encourage recreational pedestrian traffic and provide a safe accessible route for school children. The construction cost for this project was $750,000.
